Errata

"Progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil." (S&H233:6)

It's good you chose to read this last article as well, because this is Christian Science, and you didn't want to miss a single nota bene.

Mrs. Eddy's first book was, SCIENCE AND HEALTH: finished and published when she wrote the chapter, Animal Magnetism (Unmasked). She later appended reader's Fruitage, as a testimonial to the wide appeal of her volume(s) and teachings, to the receptive thought of the many who were healed by reading. It became apparent in her own thought, as her church grew in its commemoration of Christ Jesus' words and works, that more mental activity was needed to further, fortify, and maintain her established Course, Cause, and Movement, of which she is Discoverer, Founder, and Leader; and she added three chapters under the unit heading, (WITH) KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES. These three, GENESIS, APOCALYPSE, and, GLOSSARY, are her own writings, no longer the 'scribe's inditement, as Paul was wont to say, not for teaching per sé, but for guidance, for letting you know who is in charge here these days (whence his church and moral rules - cf. I.COR7:6). And, as she said, you will find her in her writings. (MY120:2; also ref: PUL75:5;S&H82:3;RET86:7) We began this (our) exegesis with DANIEL at the fulcrum in the middle of time, and thence developed a scientifical, historical, priestly, and [whoso readeth, understand] literary, perspective of the depictions eliterated at the beginning and the end of Biblical Scripture. Mrs. Eddy intended for all her students to follow KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES as a work-book of inculcating examples: to give from their own comprehension of SCIENCE AND HEALTH the spiritual meaning to each and every citation read (from the Bible) in the Christian Science Sunday School Lesson-Sermons (and Services) - this (daily) mental endeavor helps them grapple with the sin of literalism that errs and misses the mark in their own thought, and expose it to the sunshine of Truth through the divine aid: (we) should come to loathe KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES because it is, the sin which is dredged-up in no better way than by spiritualizing (our) thought in the mirror of Science (S&H30:26;354:1); and they then should blush to call it real, for it recognizes the mental challenge of the prostitute's mistake (S&H92:21;MY115:4) - thereby perpetuating the divine Mind's plan to include all in one purposed (pure-posed) spiritual development; and therewith uniting themselves in their Church enfoldment. She refers to (this) Church as (her) structure of Truth and Love, rather than using a suggestion of its more expansive enfoldment of Truth and Love. Her meanings develop the central theme for its duration on Earth, while individually and collectively the Branches and Members range far and wide across this planet's globe, and ultimately upward into the larger cosmos above and around. Her meanings exemplify the possibility to all to participate whatever their intellectual education, and indeed, Christian Science is the better education and intellect. Words abound; and to accomplish the largess of her task she takes each citation, directly from the literal, up to the spiritual (inspired meaning), as the spiritual is always the larger and purer meaning. But this eventually makes her seem the (prostituted) harlot, ever entangling the ecclesiastical barbs and barbarisms with daily watchfulness, and lastly crowning that beast with her own self, drunken with the natural words of the lives of the dimly literal Saints, and bringing momentary order to an ungainly hold over the progress of animality and hatred itself.

Consequently we cannot expect to repeat her own words (meanings) to our own benefit, save to refresh and remind ourselves of her example emeritus - we are not that harlot; neither does the harlot care for her offspring passed weening: so she saw the need for a successor to remain at the portal of her belief of passing (where she went to overcome (heal) the passing insanity of national kings (death) in her highest wilderness, which characterized the beast as the lone challenger to familial affinities), and turn back all others with the iron rod of scientific-real individual immortality, superlongevity (on) Earth, a forged rod that will not rot nor burn in a thousand years. And we must each exercise our own consciousness of truth - and this will require and elucidate corrections in our own thought, of what Mrs. Eddy meant.

1) Mrs. Eddy says in KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES, GENESIS, the light of the first day was not from the sun - only in a literal context of Earth's sunlight can this be true, because GENESIS is general, not for (our) one planet only; and the first light did have its generative source in the sun's deep interior, but was so thoroughly obscured from the Earth that the sun itself was nowhere visible as a hot spot, nor even initially as a brighter direction: the early solar shroud was entire and encompassing, glowing nebulously even beyond, and illuming the Earth's night side.

2) She emphasizes later that the sun and moon (and stars) were made on the fourth day; yet understanding this, we discern that these appeared through the dissipating nebula, and that their appearing did not measurably increase the daylight and warmth, whence (only) their definition disks (spots) appeared, on the fourth day.

3) She says the serpent appears in the allegory only as evil (KEY529:21), yet Jesus said it was as wisdom [about evil impending in the human understanding of substance, or flesh, or clay, or Earth], whence the utility, not evil, of snakes. (She really talks like the harlot, here impersonating evil to a mere individual snake - beware of evil talking: for this is incipient harlotry at its sharpest barbed hookery). To Mrs. Eddy, the fictitious talking serpent was always lying at her heel: in her childhood it called to her, Mary, Mary, Mary. (RET-----)

4) She asks, God and man are not one, for if one, who could tell which that one was? Obviously the original can tell, but then so do all the reflections (as in mirror-like fashion), and likewise, who shall hear, but that same original - therefor is man the reflection of Mind, Soul expressing its own perfect infinite selfhood in Science. But be wise that this item is in SCIENCE AND HEALTH: it requires beyond cavil, this answer to her challenge.

5) Mrs. Eddy was also wise to be not called, the woman in REVELATION, for she did not wish to rush prophecy and her own progress while she was yet with us as 'Mother'.

6) Mrs. Eddy said she believed in translation, as she also said, there are other useful books based on hers (and literature expressly which Sunday School pupils may appreciate), but she did not therefor mean necessarily word-by-word, nor phrase-by-phrase, nor even word-to-phrase; and there are capitalization rules that vary from her propriety, such as, Mother, in Japanese; therefor, read her English.

7) Mrs. Eddy tells us, electricity is the sharp surplus of material belief; but this surplus belief may be called by an(other) name, such as, too much bakery yeast, or, too much moldering cheese: you decide this belief of surplus yourself, for yourself.

8) Mrs. Eddy is not quick to steer us away from Scriptural numerology: that God is One, and this oneness constitutes (His) allness, we understand; but why should there be seven synonyms (same names for God), seems merely helpful, partial, local, not countable, not true, not un-in-eight-able [SIC].

9) Mrs. Eddy alludes to the healing of a man wasting away in well-meaning [SIC] starvation: proving to him that yeast ingested could not make him ill - the harlot's vice: she equilibrated his emigrant mind to (that) unsaintly filth, to make it harmless (S&H383:12) - it were better had he given-up freely his daily piece of yeast-bread, and broken his drought-fast - and so gotten a meager increment of wisdom in the prophylaxy of the Christ Science, rather than merely getting-on the more expensive garment of the therapeutics in the Christ Health - but alas, he was a clergyman to mortal minds in his [Christian] mindset, she delineated.

10) Mrs. Eddy gets really blunt in challenging the world to prove her ethics any less than the highest possible. (MIS247:8) But we perceive that the world does not truly exist outside of what Christian Science makes of it, and therefor a Christian Scientist must answer her challenge to the world. Read this work: It answers the challenge of the literalistic prostitute's mistake and bold conjectures. But know also that as Jesus forgave (the) adulterous women because they loved much, and adjured them to sin no more, so we must forgive Mrs. Eddy, by meeting her need in rightly answering her prostituted taunt of, prove-me-wrong: kill my child - she says, we must have Christ and him crucified. (S&H39:7) But this is the prostitute's self-aggrandizing self-reassurance in self-righteousness in her mistake: of not seeing how to implement that fully highest ethic on Earth: even heaven here, now. (S&H200:27) That is left to her Son: to redeem his Mother.

11) She says, God is personal but not in any anthropomorphic sense - she means the way to understand and demonstrate God's presence is personally discerned and won, as the garden is blessed by the good gardener, but is never more than the gardener's thought; yet her aspersion upon anthropology is but her own clarion call to work as Christian Scientists progressing most rapidly into the woman's wilderness, and to leave her son alone of any vestige of person-worship, though he be the very tabernacle of God (REV21:3) - you do your own work, and love him as yourself (S&H336:32-1) ... don't ask him to be Jesus or Peter, or Paul or Moses (again).

12) UNSEALED: Mrs. Eddy said human methods change (S&H529:6) - not into iron-pipe matrical genetiques, but that she is our Wilderness Mother: YHWH.

The new wife goes down to repair damage left by prostitutes, but climbing back up she is assailed by yet more gold-diggers, plus 'gay's come to discourage her. Who shall then rescue both herself and her injured man, but a mistress ready to come down upon them all, and wise to render assistance to the wife, and smart to lead them back to the top where man is (a) king; and familial as a sister and daughter, yet a mistress that she'll be neither old maid, nor prostitute herself.

Sincerely and cordially, your Ark of the Covenant, the absolute final authority.

ADDENDUM 28 August 1999

That Rev. Mrs. Eddy made textual and contextual errors in her published and revised works, is not unknown: she disclaimed infallibility, and she continually corrected her own editions, hundreds, year after year, till she passed - till, meaning specifically, her last corrections between the 1908 and so-called 1910 editions, were installed post-mortem by her Trustees under Her Will, though not as her Successor, and do not have her Successor's approval. [Her successor she declared to be a man, but not any then on Earth, and she declined to consider her then-prominent students: naming one] However, there has recently arisen (another) faction in the Movement, outspoken mostly of pupils of one (long passed) teacher (whom I knew), who on the basis of that teacher's careful thinking have concluded that these above-listed errata change the nature of Mrs. Eddy, and through legal blood or ordination, the nature of her Successor.

[Some of those agonists have admitted to being casual or non-readers]

It should be forthrightly noted that the wording herein, is, tight: that a child might come through, but the old man cannot return therein: ten times straiter than the proverbial eye of the needle (portal) - yet, the child's opinion of Mother is far more adoring, endearing, discerning than that of men who speak of her as "our dear Leader" she indeed is. Furthermore, it should be noted of the previous generations, that they came into Christian Science from erring human opinion - of which a teacher said, "is not worth a tinker's dam: use it once and throw it away". (WABuellCSB) [His phrase was as wise as it was ethnic] They read even her opening statement, but against their staid prejudice, they yet feel the prostitute they have not loved tauntingly touching-through, "I have no husband, and I am pregnant" redacted far more eruditely, that they cannot utter their opined complaint which sits and grows within like a blight that in a moment of failing they oft resort to drinking spoils - a seven-headed ten-horned beast losing its crowns till it hates again: She says, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (S&H:pref) - pregnant widow talk, blessing Mary Baker Glover.

But while as Mrs. Eddy's place is secure, as is her Successor's, man's individuality forever unfolds always like the divine (MBE). That Mrs. Eddy tested the ways of error, she herself has said, but meant not mere wicked doing, rather while as the wicked use the ways of error to accomplish their wickedness, she tested such ways, not their wickedness, nor such accomplishments: she got to the bottom of error, went under the bridge, un-did the enemy: Telling a lie, exposes that lie for its nothingness to the thinker - but telling the lie also brings down the temple (Church) on the liar. [Honest men, lying, may grin or blush, more honestly Christianly Scientific than straight-gay fašades posing as First Readers] And it is especially interesting to Christians that she made many tests, after she became thoroughly convinced of the therapeutic art of Science: numerous stories recounted by her household, and told abroad, have burned a pale of incredulity and new-think mysticism on her work - Jesus' reputation suffered similarly, as when his disciples told how he'd walked on the water across the sea, and Rev. Eddy felt she thereby shared the intensity of being crucified.

But the woes suffered by Mother, are not the woes suffered by child - nor should be: her students should never be re-testing those lies! They should be supplying the right answers to her challenge-questions. Nevertheless, the woes come by the uncareful sins of others, as was said of Jesus, that he died for the (uncareful) sins of men. Paul clearly defined sin as, missing the mark: as un-care-full thinking: Humanity's helpers have always known St. Paul's lament, the seeming law of uncareful contrarity in human will and means, and have also felt the assurance that immortality should enclose all the sins of uncarefulness: In my Father's house there are many mansions (Christ).

Rev. Mrs. Eddy was no exception to being humanity's helper, though wicked thinkers will claim that help to their own license: the healthy sinner is the hardened sinner, she said. And thus it behooves us to be careful, unsinning, thinkers: enclosing the sins of the world in immortality and in righteousness.

Let's consider carefully the purpose, derivation and type of the errata: Errata, in this context, are corrections listed to a larger work: The work in this case is predominantly the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by (REV) Mary Baker Eddy: And the errata listed are included by her Successor (not any man on Earth in Mrs. Eddy's day) in a work forty-times larger, the size of her own Key to the Scriptures. In fact, it is her Key to the Scriptures, not parcel to her original text she'd deemed written as a scribe, which contains most of the items for errata. And the correction errata must be recognized (or inserted) by, her, reader, as the original issue is not to be changed by the publisher.

[Which stands as one of the legal reasons the 1910 edition is not valid: Her Mother Church Trustees did not then continue her frequent re-editing]

Beginning with the first item of errata listed above - and calling-in from Verses Versus Verses (more general discussions of verses, concepts, reasonings with God) - the GENESIS day-count purported to describe the development of our Earth, as reasoned by their top 'scientist's of Moses' day and of much prior: they attempted much as today's astrophysicists do, to explain what actually happened that the Earth should be here, and that we should be here, and that God was and is responsible, and therefor, what is actually, in reality, good, about every thing.

[The rest of the Bible expounds and expands on, what, is, good: which is what Christ, Science, and this project 'lambhorn' are about: Perceive also DANIEL's concept of where we are, and his own yet very modern space-time relativity: and therefor that thinking Scientifically is, good, too, in its reward]

The first day or type of day of Earth to be considered for discussion, as a contemporary astrophysicist might begin a conjectural exegesis, had the Earth cooled enough that water collected abundantly in seas: this is long after the solar nebula cooled below water-boiling, because the Earth remained warmer (hotter) than its containing nebula, and the nebula so cooled was very dark: it no longer glowed with that early heat of gravitational condensation (that pre-fusion theorists of Mrs. Eddy's day conjectured kept our sun so bright: their sun could last millions of years, but Earth evidences refuted with billions of years, and so, their theory yielded to the solar nuclear fusion theory). In short or long case, the solar nebula nearest around the Earth, had long possibly millions of years cooled to darker than boiling water: but, except, at the very solar center where was a star (sun) forming, and there it glowed brilliantly hot, but clouded by that dark nebula, its light could not be seen at Earth, until the nebula had cleared away, on, the, first, day - nor its central spot till the fourth day (type).

But Rev. Mrs. Eddy did say that the light of the first day (type) was not from our sun! Why not? Challenge! The Reader should have blushed to call that (claim) real which was only a mistake (MBE). Or, was it a mistake?! The prostituted mindset (meaning, debased, subterfugal) uses such way of lie to enhance her un-careful mis-taken personal supposition of freedom: as when declaring overcast daylight is not from the sun, but the clouds. Rev. Eddy thus exposed that lie, but she did not stay down for the count: The thinker notices that she was lying, but is not taken by that lie - but he does come away feeling she was imposing where she shouldn't have: But Rev. Eddy wrote for her era, and as soon as that lie was learned more commonly, did or would have corrected her statement - it is the lapse of her editing that seems it most like the writing of the dead prostitute: And that is one more reason we must see Mother alive in her wilderness, still working for her Successor, that his work exposes, that, lie, too!

Q: Was the sunlight that, did, appear on the first day, nuclear-powered?

A: Very likely: mostly: the intense heat of gravitational condensation, which so brilliantly illumined the near-central solar nebula, was sufficient at the center to ignite atomic nuclear fusion processes, but it may not have been dense enough therein at that moment to sustain operation solely on nuclear fusion energy resources, as it consumed all the easily fusioned fuels from its pre-solar cloud, in a quick burn yielding higher temperature constrainting further collapse of the stellar interior - and the collapsing star's spin-up kept it squashed flatter and less dense until the extra angular momentum was shed by slow processes into the solar nebula still dusting the planetary plane - then the first fusion was slow and inefficient as nuclear power goes, it's energy escaped as undetected neutrinos contributed to the cosmos, and only much later when enough ash condensed from the first fusion, and ignited, did the sun's surface get bright-hot on its deep interior fusioning of nuclear power resources - then the reach of sunlight back-out to the Earth and beyond, was gradual, as the solar nebula, and Earth's own planetary nebula, dispersed, or collected on the nearer planets' surfaces ... but in retrospect to our earlier geophysically vantaged discussion, we should wind-down by noting also that the sun has continued developing: today our sun runs on slightly different nuclear fuel-process fractions than at first, as subsequent nuclear ashes increased burning billions of years later - but the outer photosphere of the sun which emits the light and warmth for Earth, is similar enough to call it, our same sun.

As St. John fondly noted, books could be written on the essential summary record of Christ's Scientific teachings and demonstrations.

END OF ERRATA

Well-reasoning is expected of every student of Christian Science, today, as in Rev. Mrs. Eddy's day: especially of her students. The reader is reminded to read all of this work and Rev. Eddy's works, and the Holy Bible - to be careful thinkers, planners, actors: It is Christian Science to do and be right, and nothing less is worthy of the name (MBE).

[We must note here in closing that the plausible actual would become speculative if we merely imagine what persons may have done, said, meant ... the importance is in the demonstration of the Christ Science: not to rediscover that which is today abundant, but discern and live it]
